A voter awareness campaign was recently launched at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), Coimbatore.

Ramalingam, Dean of the Centre for Students’ Welfare, flagged off the campaign to promote 100% voter turnout in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly General Elections 2026.

Vetrivelkalai, University NSS Coordinator; Sivakumar, Chandrakumar, Malathi, the NSS officers; volunteers, faculty members, and staff participated in the event.

During the programme, Ramalingam addressed first-time voters and emphasised the importance of voting as a civic duty. He highlighted that voting is a fundamental right of every citizen and is essential for the development of a democratic society.

As part of the awareness drive, students carried placards, flex boards, and banners to stress the importance of voting. Slogans such as “100% voter turnout,” “Vote for the future,” “Vote for a better India,” and “Your vote, your voice” were chanted.

The rally passed through student hostels, staff quarters, and various departments on campus before returning to the starting point, effectively spreading the message of voting among the public.

More than 1,000 students from disciplines including Agriculture, Horticulture, Agricultural Engineering, Biotechnology, Agri-Business Development, and Bioinformatics participated in the rally, raising awareness about their rights and responsibilities in strengthening a democratic nation.
