The Indian Medical Association (IMA) conducted a Road Safety Awareness Programme on January 13, 2026, at the Gandhipuram signal junction to promote safe driving practices among the public.

Doctors and paramedical staff actively participated in the initiative. Road safety pamphlets highlighting the importance of wearing seat belts, using helmets, and avoiding mobile phone use while driving were distributed to approximately 2,000 people during the one-hour campaign.

In addition, Basic Life Support (BLS) training was provided by IMA doctors to police personnel and members of the public, emphasising the importance of a timely first response during road traffic emergencies.

The event was attended by Thirunavukkarasu, Assistant Commissioner of Traffic (East); Dr Koshal Ram, President; Dr Parameswaran, Secretary; and Dr Balamurugan, Finance Secretary.
