The Department of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics at PSG College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore, is organising a two-day State-Level Seminar on “Empowering Elderly Health: Synergizing Dietetics, Nutrition Science, and Support Systems” on 4th and 5th December 2025.
The seminar commenced with an inaugural ceremony addressed by Dr. Bhuvaneswaran, Director of PSG Hospitals. Kannaian, Secretary of the college; Senguttuvan, Principal In-charge; and Premagowri, Head of the Department, also participated in the inaugural event.

Day 1 features technical sessions covering diverse aspects of geriatric care. Topics included Geriatric Health Assessment, AI and Innovations in Elderly Care, Legal Protection against Elder Abuse, and Psychological Well-being in Elderly Care, presented by eminent doctors, geriatricians, legal experts, and psychologists.
A total of 150 participants are attending the seminar, including faculty members, research scholars, NGO representatives, and postgraduate students from institutions such as Dr. NGP College of Arts and Science, CMS College of Science and Commerce, RVS College of Arts and Science, Kongunadu Arts and Science College, and Avinashilingam University, along with community stakeholders.
The programme is funded by the National Institute of Social Defence (NISD), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.

Day 2
The second day will feature advanced sessions focusing on applied nutrition and community support mechanisms for ageing populations.
The technical discussions will cover topics such as malnutrition in the elderly, sustainable support systems, building intergenerational community bonding, and a multidisciplinary panel discussion on strengthening support systems for geriatric care.
