Vivekananda Institute of Management Studies (VIMS) recently organised two events under the titles ‘Be an Entrepreneur ‘ and ‘Statistics simplified Turning Data into Managerial Insights’ as part of its Orientation Program series for the 2025-27 MBA batch.
In the first session, Valarmathi, Director, VIMS, delivered the presidential address, welcomed the chief guest. She advised students to brand themselves on various platforms to enhance their career prospects and emphasised the importance of practising industry issues and procedures.
Ramya Selvaraj, Founder and CEO of Sharas Ventures LLP, as the Guest, shared her entrepreneurial experience, how to convert ideas into a business process, planning the financial plan for the project, operations plan and handling the manpower. She added that time management and retaining customers are key activities in business
In the second session, Valarmathi, welcomed the Chief Guest Subha and gave an overview of the session, highlighting the importance of data and the key role of statistics in real-time.
Subha, Associate Professor, Anna University Regional Campus, Coimbatore, began the session with the importance of decision-making in life and society.
She discussed about how the data plays a vital role in day-to-day activities. She shared about her PhD, illustrating how data collection and analysis have evolved. She added about the syllabus of statistics and segregated unit-wise how students can easily learn and apply it to the business.
Subha provided examples of data’s importance in various industries, including healthcare.
The event provided a valuable learning experience for the students, offering insights into the world of entrepreneurship and industry expectations.
