Marking World EV Day, the Society for Smart E-Mobility (SSEM) organised an ‘Electric Vehicles Roadshow & Rally’ for the third time at the Race Course on 9th September 2024.
The Chief Guest address was given by Kranthi Kumar Pati, IAS, District Collector, Coimbatore, the Guests of Honours V Balakrishnan, Police Commissioner, Coimbatore & Sivaguru Prabakaran, Corporation Commissioner also addressed the gathering.
Along with the Chief Guest and Guests of Honour the Patrons, and EC Members jointly Flagged Off the Rally.
Other senior industrialists Anand J, Patron; SSEM, Hemalatha Annamalai, Patron; K Barathan, Joint Treasurer; A Sasikumar, Joint Secretary and Sivasankari TP, Sudhakar, Executive Committee Member, SSEM and Dr. Kavidasan, Director, HR, Roots Group of Companies also addressed the gathering. A few Police officials and Press & Media also joined the Rally.
The E vehicles Rally started and finished Opposite to Income Tax (IT) Office, Race Course, Coimbatore. A Bujji Car which was designed by Mahindra & Jayem Auto was also displayed and attracted by the visitors in large numbers.
More than 50 EV vehicles (2W / 3W / 4W/ 6W/8W/10W) and SSEM 200 members/non-members from Coimbatore (including senior industrialists, the general public and students) participated in the rally.
Every year to commemorate World EV Day special awareness campaigns are organised globally to educate people about the benefits of electric vehicles.
World EV Day was an initiative created by sustainability media company Green. TV. The first World EV Day was observed in 2020. It was largely a social media campaign that encouraged drivers to recognise the benefits of electric vehicles and make a commitment that the next car they drive will be electric and not run on conventional fuels.
The Society for Smart E-Mobility (SSEM) is a registered Not-For-Profit Association of Industries, Institutions and Professionals with an interest to work & contribute in developing future mobility solutions focusing on autonomous, connected, electric and shared services formed in Coimbatore. We have more than 80 active members from the Electric Vehicle Industry and Academic Institutions in Coimbatore and other places.
