Nirmala College for Women offers Vocational Training to Self Help Groups (SHG), women from underprivileged society, young women who have discontinued their studies, and women from tribal village for decades.

To support the college in its mission Rotary Coimbatore Gaalaxy and Lakshmi Ceramics, Coimbatore joined hands to establish a Vocational Training Center in the college premises in January 2025. This project was backed by Lakshmi Ceramics at the cost of Rs.55 lakhs.

This center has helped benefit 750 external beneficiaries besides benefitting 3000+ students of the college so far. The trainees at this centre receive training in Aari work, tailoring, beautician courses, jewellery making, and many other vocational skills.

Now, this center is all set to be renovated and extended at a cost of Rs. 45 lakhs, with the support from Lakshmi Ceramics. The donation is magnanimously made by Rtn. Muthuraman, Managing Director, Lakshmi Ceramics.

The project is being taken up as a Rotary Foundation (TRF) project (Grant No. CS2601000). Its official launch ceremony was held on Wednesday. Rtn. R.S. Maruthi, District Governor, Rotary District 3206, took part as the Chief Guest, and PDG Rtn. Rajashekar, DRFC attended as the Guest of Honour.

The event had the presence of Mary Fabiola, Principal and Kulanthai Theresa, Secretary, Nirmala College for Women, along with Rtn. Kannapan Narayanan, President, Rotary Coimbatore Gaalaxy, and Rtn. Nandini Selvaraj, Secretary, Rotary Coimbatore Gaalaxy, and members and office-bearers of Rotary Coimbatore Gaalaxy and other well-wishers.
