The Chief Guest, Suren Ramasubbu, shared the story of The Giving Tree in his address and told the students, “Your teachers are your giving trees.”

Addressing the adults in the audience, he emphasised, “Children do what you do, not what you tell them to do.” He encouraged parents and teachers to practise what they expect children to follow. He also highlighted the importance of teaching children how to learn, rather than simply telling them what to learn.

Turning to the students, he introduced the “Three Bes” — Be Bored, Be Water, and Be Obsessed.

Explaining the first principle, he said, “It is good to be bored. So, when you are bored, don’t worry — just be bored.” He encouraged students to embrace boredom as an opportunity for creativity and self-discovery.

Through the second principle, “Be Water,” he urged students to be adaptable and flexible in a fast-changing world. Under the third principle, “Be Obsessed,” he encouraged them to discover their passion and pursue it wholeheartedly. He remarked, “Find your passion and make it your job,” emphasising that dedication and passion can pave the way to success.

He concluded his address with a thought-provoking message: “Don’t live in the virtual world; come out and experience the real world.”
