The Department of Cardiology at PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (PSG IMSR) & Hospitals inaugurated an Advanced Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (Cath Lab) at A Block (Basement), PSG Hospital, on January 21, 2026.

The laboratory was inaugurated by L. Gopalakrishnan, Managing Trustee, PSG & Sons’ Charities, in the presence of Dr Bhuvaneswaran, Director of the hospital; Varunn, Medical Superintendent; Subbarao, Principal, PSG IMSR; and Jaganathan, General Manager – Administration.
Dr. Tamilarasu, Head, Department of Cardiology, Dr. Ramasamy, Senior Consultant, and Dr Rajendran, Senior Consultant, Department of Preventive Cardiology, senior hospital administrators, cardiology consultants, faculty members, and other guests were present.

The newly inaugurated lab is equipped with advanced imaging and angiography systems, along with interventional technology, enabling accurate diagnosis and treatment of complex cardiac conditions.
The inauguration marks an expansion of the hospital’s interventional cardiology facilities.

In addition, PSG Hospitals announced the expansion of two more Cath Labs equipped with ALLIA GEIGS-520 and ALLIA GEIGS-320 systems, enhancing the institution’s capacity for cardiac interventions.
Hospital authorities stated that the new facility will contribute to improved patient outcomes by enabling faster and safer cardiac procedures. The initiative reflects PSG Hospitals’ commitment to providing advanced and accessible cardiac care in the region.
The inauguration further strengthens PSG IMSR & Hospitals’ role as a centre for comprehensive cardiac care in Tamil Nadu.
