The Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA) Tamil Nadu State Branch and the Tamil Nadu Pharmaceutical Sciences Welfare Trust, Chennai, in collaboration with the IPA Coimbatore Branch, inaugurated the 64th National Pharmacy Week Celebrations under the theme “Pharmacists as Advocates of Vaccination.”

The inauguration took place at the Sri Ramakrishna Hospital campus, Coimbatore, on 14th November 2025.

The event also witnessed the IPA & Tamil Nadu Pharmaceutical Sciences Welfare Trust Award Function, and the Dr. T. K. Ravi Memorial Lecture.

Jayaseelan, President, IPA–TN, welcomed the gathering, and R. Sundar Ramakrishnan, Managing Trustee, SNR Sons Charitable Trust, presided over the function.

The Chief Guest, Suresh, Pro-Chancellor, JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research, Mysuru, delivered the Dr. T. K. Ravi Memorial Lecture.

The Guest of Honour, Dr. Veeramani, Chairman, Tamil Nadu Pharmaceutical Sciences Welfare Trust, addressed the audience and felicitated the occasion.

Sriram, Principal, Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Paramedical Sciences, College of Pharmacy, spoke on the theme of the 64th National Pharmacy Week.

Ramanathan, President, IPA–Coimbatore Local Branch, presented a brief note on the legacy of Dr. T. K. Ravi. The IPA (TN) Best Pharmacist Award, sponsored by Lalchand Bhimraj, was announced by Chinnaswamy, President, Indian Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (IACP).

The event also featured the presentation of IPA Awards and Scholarships by the Tamil Nadu Pharmaceutical Sciences Welfare Trust, recognising excellence among pharmacy students and professionals.

As part of the celebrations, several IPA Awards were presented across various sectors of the pharmacy profession, including Best Pharmacist, Industry Excellence, Academic Excellence, Regulatory Excellence, Excellence in Community Pharmacy, Hospital Pharmacy, Academic Administration, and Research.

Prizes and scholarships were also distributed by the Tamil Nadu Pharmaceutical Sciences Welfare Trust to students for essay competitions, B.Pharm toppers from The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, and outstanding M.Pharm and Pharm.D dissertations.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Rajesh Bhandari, Secretary, IPA–TN. Around 700 participants from in and around Coimbatore attended the event.

The celebration reaffirmed the collective vision of pharmacists as frontline healthcare professionals committed to safe medication practices, public health advancement, and community welfare.
