Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, the Chancellor of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, recently received the Vivekananda International Peace Award from Vivekananda International Relations in recognition of her public welfare activities at the international level.
The award was presented during a ceremony held at the Mata Amritanandamayi Math in Amritapuri. The award consists of a plaque and a certificate of commendation, presented by Gagan Malhotra, Convener of the Vivekananda International Relations Foundation, and Ravikumar Iyer, Chief Patron.
After receiving the award, Amma emphasised the importance of learning and teaching Sanatana Dharma, which reflects India’s rich culture and values. She highlighted that this was also the core message of Swami Vivekananda’s life, and added that peace can prevail in the world when we treat nature as something that belongs to all of us.
In his address, Ravikumar Iyer stated that peace follows Amma wherever she goes and expressed confidence in her ability to spread India’s Sanatana message—rooted in Dharma and truth—to the world.
Gagan Malhotra, Sarika Panhalkar, CEO of Tarpan Foundation; Shreya Bharathiya, Managing Trustee of Swanath Foundation; Rajasekaran, Chairman of Chakra Foundation, and several others also spoke at the event.
