The Department of Commerce with Information Technology at Kongunadu Arts and Science College (Autonomous), Coimbatore, organised an Extension Activity on ‘Digital Safety Awareness’ for the residents of Mookanur, Annur Taluk, on 3rd June 2025.

The event was initiated by Giridaran, Proprietor of Raj Giri Handlooms, Mookanur.

Saikumaran and Vishnuram, final-year students of III B.Com. IT, gave detailed presentations on topics such as identifying fake accounts, avoiding phishing attempts, creating strong passwords, using secure payment methods while shopping online, and other best practices for safe internet usage.

Giridaran expressed his appreciation and congratulated the students for their commitment to spreading awareness on digital safety, an essential need in today’s digital age.

Following the session, second and third-year students visited the village, educating the residents on key topics such as fake profiles, strong passwords, privacy settings, and secure digital payments.

A total of 9 students and 3 faculty members— Divya Priya, Sudha, and Akila from the Department of Commerce with Information Technology, actively participated in this awareness initiative.

The program benefited 56 individuals, including weavers, homemakers, labourers, and petty shopkeepers, who gained valuable knowledge on digital safety and online practices.
