Kongunadu Arts and Science College, in association with the Coimbatore Corporation School Education Department and Tamil Nadu Science Forum, organised IGNITE 2026, a district-level inter-school competition for science stream students, on Wednesday and Thursday.
The inaugural function was graced by Michael Swamidoss, Manager, Dinathanthi, Coimbatore, as the Chief Guest.
Prabakaran, President, Tamil Nadu Science Forum, Coimbatore District, and Ramani, Secretary, Tamil Nadu Science Forum, Coimbatore City, were also present. The event was convened by Saravana Kumar in the presence of Vasuki, Secretary of the College, and Sangeetha, Principal .
More than 60 schools and around 2,200 students from the science stream participated in the event.
IGNITE 2026 featured a wide range of sports, academic competitions and co-curricular activities, providing students with opportunities to demonstrate their knowledge, skills, creativity and competitive spirit.
The competitions witnessed enthusiastic participation from students representing schools across the district.
The valedictory functions were graced by Rajesh, Chairman, Coimbatore Book Festival 2026, as the Chief Guest on the first day, and Shenbagalakshmi, Regional Joint Director of Collegiate Education, as the Chief Guest on the second day.
Cash prizes were awarded to the first-, second- and third-place winners in recognition of their outstanding performances. In addition, all participants were presented with medals and certificates as a token of appreciation for their participation.
IGNITE 2026 provided a vibrant platform for school students to develop their academic, sporting and co-curricular abilities while fostering healthy competition and collaboration among schools.
