The Department of Physical Education, Kongunadu Arts and Science College (Autonomous), conducted the two-day Bharathiar University Inter-Collegiate Taekwondo Tournament for men and women recently.
C.A. Vasuki, Secretary and Director of the college, inaugurated the tournament and conveyed her best wishes to the participants.
On the first day, the men’s tournament was held, with around 60 participants competing in eight categories.
Manibharathi of the host college won the gold medal in the 54 kg category for men. PSG College of Arts and Science won the overall winners’ trophy, while Kongunadu Arts and Science College secured the overall runners-up trophy. Shri Nehru Maha Vidyalaya College of Arts and Science clinched the overall third-place trophy.
On the second day, the women’s tournament was conducted, with around 60 participants competing in eight categories.
Lt. Col. Karthikeyan of 5TN Girls BN NCC, Coimbatore, served as the chief guest and delivered the valedictory address. C.A. Vasuki and Annadurai, Director of Physical Education, Bharathiar University, delivered the presidential address and felicitated the gathering, respectively.
Meenu and Vidhya of Kongunadu Arts and Science College won the gold medals in the 46 kg and 67 kg categories for women, respectively.
Nirmala College for Women won the overall winners’ trophy. PSG College of Arts and Science secured the overall runners-up trophy, while Kongunadu Arts and Science College received the overall third-place trophy.
Earlier, Major Kavithashri, Director of Physical Education, Kongunadu Arts and Science College, welcomed the match officials, coaches and participants. Kumar, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Accounts and Finance, proposed the vote of thanks.
