On the occasion of the birth anniversary of the legendary Hindi writer Munshi Premchand, a joint seminar on “Premchand: A Literary Luminary” was organised recently at Hindusthan College of Arts & Science (HICAS).
The seminar was jointly organised by the Department of Other Languages (Hindi), Hindusthan College of Arts & Science, and the Department of Hindi, Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women. The event was sponsored by the Bank of India, Coimbatore Zone.
Commander Sriramakrishnan (Retd.) graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Ponnusamy, Principal of Hindusthan College of Arts & Science, and Bharathi Harishankar, Vice-Chancellor of Avinashilingam Institute, were the Chief Patrons of the programme.
The event received valuable support from Ranjeet Kumar, Zonal Manager, Bank of India, Coimbatore Zone, and Amit Kumar, Rajbhasha Officer, Bank of India.
Eminent speakers highlighted Munshi Premchand’s literary contributions, his social consciousness, realistic approach, and the enduring relevance of his writings in contemporary society.
The seminar witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, research scholars, and students from both institutions. Research papers presented by students reflected diverse perspectives on Premchand’s literary works and led to meaningful academic discussions.
