Coimbatore-based pump major, Deccan Pumps, part of the EKKI Group owned by the Arumugam family, won the European PIA Award recently
The British Pump Manufacturers Association (BPMA), together with leading members of the European pump industry, recognised Deccan Pumps’ advanced manufacturing unit, KOOT, as a Finalist for the Supplier of the Year Award.
Hosted in Burton upon Trent, United Kingdom, the Pump Industry Awards (PIA) is one of the sector’s most established international platforms, celebrating top-performing manufacturers and suppliers from across Europe and beyond.
Organised in collaboration with leading industry players, the awards honour companies worldwide that demonstrate excellence in technical innovation, sustainability, customer focus, and market leadership.
Commenting on the honour, Kanishka Arumugam, Director at Deccan Pumps and an alumnus of Oxford University, said, “Deccan Pumps Pvt. Ltd. (DPPL), part of the EKKI Group, strategically acquired all intellectual property, exclusive ownership rights, manufacturing facilities, and associated assets for open well and surface pumps from Deccan Industries in 2013.
Since then, DPPL has significantly expanded its infrastructure and technological capabilities to serve the agricultural, building, and public utility sectors.”

The EKKI Group has now become the first Indian company to win five Pump Industry Awards (PIA) to date.
