President of Coimbatore District Small Industries Association (CODISSIA) has requested the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Joseph Vijay to reduce the Fixed EB charges for LT & LTCT consumers that is set to revised from the existing Rs.165 per kW.

In his letter to the Chief Minister, CODISSIA’s President Karthikeyan highlighted that the fixed EB charge which was at Rs.35/ kW was increased to Rs.150 in 2022 as per an order by the TN Electricity Regulatory Commission, and the fee was set to get revision for a period of 5 years on an annual-basis.

Hence the industry paid Rs.150 in 2022, Rs.153 in 2023, Rs.160 in 2024 and Rs.165 in 2025. It is set to undergo a revision this year, and the industry wants the Tamil Nadu Government to reduce it to 1/3rd of it.

Karthikeyan further appealed the State Govt. to reduce 50% of the property tax for industries so that they can manage the rising operational costs. Besides this, he has also requested the govt to consider establishing 3 to 4 industrials parks within the 25 km radius of Coimbatore , as it will help the industries looking to expand their operations get the required land, which is become a lot costlier in the district.
