Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan – Coimbatore Kendra is known for organizing high quality carnatic music concerts to fulfill the expectations of the music lovers of Coimbatore.

The institution announced recently that it will be organizing such a concert at its premises this Saturday (13.6.2026) ,  titled ‘Music Trinity & Purandaradasar Aradhana Celebrations’ organized under 6 memorial endowments.

On the 13th of this month, BVB will host a Carnatic Music concert of the renowned Vocal Duet, Vijayalakshmi and  Chithra & Party, as part of the Music Trinity and Purandaradasar Aradhana Celebrations.

Vijayalakshmi &. Chithra, Vocal artists, popularly known as Mambalam Sisters, hail from a musical family, their father K.S.Rangachary is a well-known Kanjira artist for over 55 years. Their gurus Smt.Suguna Varadachary of Musiri Bhani and Sarvasri B.V. Raman and B.V.Lakshmanan of Tiger Varadachari Bhani make their singing an interesting blend of both the styles.

‘A’ grade artists of AIR/DD, the sisters have been awarded ‘Kalaimamani’ by Govt. of Tamil Nadu, and have been empaneled artists of Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India. Apart from giving performances all over India and abroad over past several years, they have also set tunes and sung a number of devotional hymns and released a large number of audio albums most of which are available on YouTube. They are specially known for their thematic presentation with full-fledged concerts of compositions of our divine composers.

She will be accompanied by Pudukkottai R.Ambika Prasad on the Violin, B.Ganapathyraman on the Mridangam and Alathur R.Rajaganesh on the Kanjira.

This concert will be held under memorial endowments created by six large-hearted music loving families – S.A.Kaveri Ammal & Sowdamini Rajan Memorial Endowment; J.Sakharam Rao Memorial Endowment; Drs.Moorthi-Meera Memorial Endowment; P.V.Pattammal Memorial Endowment; N.S.Ramachandran Memorial Endowment and Rama Hariharan and N.Hariharan Memorial Endowment.

It will be staged in the auditorium of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan at R.S.Puram, Coimbatore, on Saturday 13th June, 2026 at 6.00 pm.
