In line with the message of our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, under the Nava Yuva Mukth Bharat (drug-free youth for a developed India) initiative, Amrita Vidyalayam, Tiruppur, recently conducted a three-day Drug Awareness Programme for Youth to sensitize students and the community about the dangers of drug abuse.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, parents, teaching and non-teaching staff, and the Mangalam Police Department.
On the first day, students of Grade XII staged a street play at Shyamalapuram Junction, Somanur. The performance highlighted the harmful effects of drug abuse and encouraged the public to adopt a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
On the second day, Grade X students conducted a group discussion on drug awareness in the presence of parents and the Police Singappen Team from Mangalam.
The Chief Guest, Mahalakshmi, Inspector of Police, addressed the gathering and appreciated the students’ initiative. She emphasized the vital role of youth and the community in building a drug-free society.
On the third day, Grade XI students visited the homes of labourers in nearby areas and interacted with residents to spread awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse.
Students of Grades VI, VII, VIII, IX, XI, and XII, along with the teaching and non-teaching staff, participated in a Human Chain Rally from Mangalam to Palladam Road with the support of the Mangalam Police Inspector and team.
The rally concluded with the recital of anti-drug slogans, the display of awareness placards, and a signature campaign, during which participants pledged to stay away from drugs.
The programme concluded with the live telecast of the inaugural session of the Prime Minister’s Nava Yuva Mukth Bharat programme, inspiring students to become ambassadors of a drug-free India.
The School Management, Principal, and Staff expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Mangalam Police Department, parents, and students for their wholehearted support in making the programme a grand success.
