The Department of Psychology of Rathinam College of Arts and Science organised a two-day national conference with renowned psychologists under the theme “Interdisciplinary Approaches in Behavioural Sciences” recently.
The conference was officially inaugurated by distinguished guests Vedagiri Ganesan, Retd. Professor & Head, Bharathiar University and Neeradha Chandramohan, Head, Department of Clinical Psychology, Sri Ramachandra Medical College, Chennai.
Balasubramanian, Principal of the College delivered the welcome address on the first day of the conference. Hemalatha, Dean of Commerce detailed about the conference.
Their motivational speeches demonstrated the value of behavioural science research in addressing contemporary societal challenges.
Renowned speaker, Smitha Rukmani, a clinical psychologist from the Institute of Mental Health in Chennai, gave a keynote address on the second day that explored cutting-edge methods and new issues in the field.
Participants presented their research papers and actively participated in discussions from a variety of Indian institutions, including Osmania University, Hyderabad; Christ University, Bangalore, Periya University, Salem; Manonmaniam Sundaranar University; Techno India University, West Bengal; Guru Jambheshwar University, Haryana; Institute of Mental Health, Kilpauk; SRM Medical College Hospital; Government College of Women, Haryana and Thiagarajar College, Madurai.
Vivekananda College, American College, JSS Medical College, Loyola College of Social Sciences, Bhaktavatsalam Memorial College, Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College, Dr. MGR-Janakiammal College, Chennai, NGP College and PSG College were also present in the conference.
The event concluded with a valedictory ceremony featuring an address by Seethalakshmy, Head of the Department of Psychology of the college. The event summary was deliberated by Rajaswathy of Psychology Department.
Cash awards for best papers and certificates were distributed by Dhinakaran the Controller of Examination of the College.
