Vivekananda Institute of Management Studies (VIMS), a Stand-Alone B-School in Coimbatore, collaborated with the National Entrepreneurship Challenge (NEC) to host an Illuminate Workshop on Entrepreneurship Conducted by IIT Bombay, on December 2, 2024.
Valarmathi, Director of the Institute, delivered the presidential address, emphasizing the significance of the program. She highlighted the importance of improving risk-taking abilities, planning, and executing business ideas for aspiring entrepreneurs.
Saravanan Thangavel, a serial entrepreneur and CEO of Craskills, was the Chief Guest. He spoke about the impact of innovation and creating value on brands, particularly with AI technology. He drew parallels with the sustainability of Apple iPhones and Red Bus methodologies.
He emphasized that entrepreneurship is a combination of ideas, processes, and technology, requiring key qualities like risk-taking, adaptability, and clear vision.
Saravanan also explored the success rates of new entrepreneurs, noting that passion can be converted into business, but only with a value-driven approach. He cited successful entrepreneurs like Elon Musk and Sridhar Vembu as examples.
The event featured interactive entrepreneurial activities, including team formation, product launch, and business model canvas, in which students participated enthusiastically.
Other notable participants included Umamaheshwari, Professor and ED Cell In-charge; Hariraj Krishna, Student ED-Cell Chairman, and Kaviya, Student NEC In-charge.
The workshop provided a valuable platform for students to learn from experienced entrepreneurs and gain insights into the world of entrepreneurship.
