Vivekananda Institute of Management Studies (VIMS) recently organised its Graduation Day ceremony for the MBA Batch of 2023–2025. A total of 108 graduates received their degree certificates at the ceremony.
The programme commenced with the welcome address by Valarmathi, Principal/CEO, who welcomed the gathering and presented the annual report of the institution on various activities conducted, milestones achieved by the institution, student achievements, and new initiatives taken.
Karthikeyan, FCA, Founder, GKM Global Services, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and addressed the graduating students. In his address, he described the degree received by the graduates as a passport to the next chapter of their lives and encouraged them to think big and explore opportunities at the global level.
He highlighted the significant presence of Indians in leadership positions in global organisations and emphasised the importance of identifying and utilising opportunities when they arise.
He remarked that when an individual possesses the right ideas, energy and enthusiasm, financial constraints should not become a limitation. He encouraged the graduates not to impose self-created limitations on their aspirations.
Drawing an analogy from the Japanese fishing concept, the Chief Guest explained that challenges and stress, when approached positively, can contribute to personal growth and resilience.
He urged the graduates to view difficulties as opportunities for learning and development.
Thomas, Head – HR, St. Johns Freight Systems, the Special Invitee, advised graduates to view their first job as a learning opportunity, practise financial discipline, and use AI responsibly while maintaining their own judgement and accountability.
After receiving their certificates, all graduates took the graduation pledge, reaffirming their commitment to professional values and responsible conduct.
