G.Kuppuswamy Naidu Memorial Hospital (GKNMH) today launched a dedicated Sports Health Check-up Package to promote the health and well-being of sportspersons.
The package is a comprehensive preventive and performance-focused healthcare initiative designed for athletes, sports enthusiasts, fitness professionals, coaches, and active individuals.
The package aims to promote injury prevention, early diagnosis, rehabilitation, performance enhancement, and long-term sports wellness.
This launch is part of the hospital’s Sports Injury Awareness and Prevention Programme, titled “Fit to Play, Fit to Stay.”
Dr Ragupathy Veluswamy, CEO, GKNMH, launched the package in the presence of the Guests of Honour, Hashini, International Cycling – Women’s Road Race Champion, and Varun Muthuraj and Tharun Muthuraj, Thailand International Silambam Championship 2026 Medallists.
Dr. Manoharan, Chief Medical Officer of the hospital; Dr. Santhosh, Director – Medical Affairs & Operations; Dr. Raghavedran, Medical Director, GKNM iOP; Dr. Raghul Raj, Associate Consultant, Orthopaedic, Arthroscopic and Trauma Surgeon; Dr. Mahesh Mitra, Head, Department of Physiotherapy; Dr. Ashwini Shah, Consultant, Anaesthesiology & Interventional Pain Management; Dr. Ravichandaran, Consultant, Neurology; and Dr. Vinoth and Dr. Vinodh, Visiting Consultants, Orthopaedics, accompanied the CEO during the launch.
During the event, international sports achievers Hashini, Varun Muthuraj, and Tharun Muthuraj were honoured by the CEO.
Following the launch, Dr. Raghul Raj, Dr. Mahesh Mitra, and Dr. Ashwini Shah led scientific sessions covering key aspects of sports health and injury management.
An expert panel discussion was also held, bringing together specialists from Orthopaedics, Sports Physiotherapy, Sports Interventional Pain Management, Psychology, and Clinical Nutrition. The discussion focused on common sports injuries, recovery strategies, injury prevention, sports nutrition, mental resilience, and safe return-to-play practices.
