Three youth from Coimbatore have created a portal to create awareness about candidates contesting in Coimbatore district. Called ‘Know Your Candidate’, the website could be visited via the address www.tnvoters.in. 

The website is developed by L.Gopinath, M.Yasodharan and L.Riktha from Coimbatore. The  site declares that it has obtained data from various sources including ECI affidavits, Wikipedia, PRS India, SC Observer, The Hindu, myneta.info besides other news and web sources.

Currently it features details about the 10 assembly constituencies in Coimbatore. The photo and details of the candidates, their political background, estimated net worth, educational qualification, key contribution, legal cases and way to download the affidavit are available from the site. The creators have taken effort to also include the info-sources in the website.

While some info provided about the candidate are not as per the latest affidavit, for instance the  total assets of ADMK-led NDA’s candidate in Singanallur K.R.Jayaram has been mentioned as Rs.95 crore+ while he has declared it to be Rs.145 crore+., and the same has been widely reported; the effort to take the information about candidates to the public via an exclusive website has been lauded by netizens.

For now the site features details about only the candidates from Coimbatore, and the creators have planned to extend it to other constituencies in the next election.
