Speaking on the occasion, CA. Survajith S. Krishnan, Chairman, Coimbatore Branch of SIRC of ICAI, emphasised the importance of collaboration in the evolving GST environment.

“GST has brought the Government, businesses and professionals into one interconnected ecosystem. Effective compliance is possible when the Department, taxpayers, Chartered Accountants, Sales Tax Practitioners, GST Practitioners, tax consultants and accountants work together with mutual understanding.

When the Department understands the practical challenges of businesses, professionals understand the expectations of the Department, and taxpayers are properly guided, compliance becomes simpler and avoidable disputes can be reduced.”

He added that ICAI, as a Partner in Nation Building, and ICCI, as the voice of trade and industry, have an important responsibility in creating platforms that bring all these stakeholders together for meaningful dialogue and knowledge sharing.

Kailash Kumar, Treasurer, ICCI, highlighted the vital role of accountants and tax practitioners in the day-to-day operations of businesses, particularly MSMEs. He stated that accountants, Sales Tax Practitioners, GST Practitioners, tax consultants and Chartered Accountants play an important role in translating tax laws into practical compliance and stressed the need for continuous knowledge enhancement across the entire accounting and taxation fraternity.

Ponnusamy, Deputy Commissioner (Inspection), Coimbatore Intelligence Division, who graced the programme as Guest of Honour, highlighted the importance of constructive interaction between the Department and professionals. He emphasised that Chartered Accountants, Sales Tax Practitioners, GST Practitioners, tax consultants and accountants act as an important bridge between taxpayers and the tax administration, and that continuous dialogue and mutual understanding can facilitate better compliance and reduce avoidable disputes.

The technical sessions featured CA. Vishnukumar on “Scrutiny and Risk Analysis of Registration under GST,” CA.
