The above words were some of the finest messages delivered to the candidates at the Graduation Ceremony of PSG College of Technology by Shyam Srinivasan, Former Managing Director of Federal Bank.

PSG Tech is holding the graduation ceremony separately for different cluster of engineering programs. The event held on Friday was for the Departments of Automobile Engg., Civil Engg., Mechanical Engg., Metallurgical Engg., and Production Engg., and Shyam was the Chief Guest of the program. 469 graduates (UG & PG) received their degrees.

L.Gopalakrishnan, Managing Trustee, PSG & Sons’ Charities presided over the ceremony.  J.Krishnamoorthy, Head of Metallurgy Dept., welcomed the gathering. Prof.Thyla, Principal of the college declared the ceremony open.

Shyam Srinivasan, the chief guest spoke about Introspection & Opportunity.

“Ask yourself Who are you?. The question is constant but the answer changes with time,” he opined. Throughout his address, he kept emphasizing on the importance of finding one’s purpose – what motivates him/her, and what solutions can he/she provide to rest of the world.

What made the engineers behind Skyroot to become India’s first private company to launch a suborbital rocket was a sense of purpose and the ability to grab the opportunity that was before them. Such remarkable opportunities lie before every engineer, opined Shyam.

Drawing their attention the money spent on energy, and India’s aspirations, he said that 85-88% of our energy requirement is imported, costing India $140 billion every year. India crossed 250 GW milestone of non-fossil power installed capacity in August, 2025 and Government is working to reach 500 GW Non-fossil energy capacity by 2030.

“Our country has these energy-surplus ambitions and this is an opportunity sitting write before our engineers. You can allow some one to make use of it or you can do it. India is flush with opportunities. It is up to you to pick that. It won’t come to you,” he underlined.
