“Excellence is not inherited. It is not someone’s sole property. It can come from habit. It can come from a culture of continuous learning and by investing in yourself,” emphasized Mahima, the Vice President of Customer Success & Cloud Operations at Blue Yonder at the 36th Students’ Union of Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science for Women (SRCW) on Saturday.
Mahima attended the event as the Chief Guest, while Sundar Ramakrishnan, the Managing Trustee of the SNR Sons Charitable Trust, presided over the function. The event saw the participation of 1,600 students, with close to 140 students taking up leadership roles in the Union and various college clubs.
In his address to the students, Sundar Ramakrishnan opined that women leaders had all been successful because they had faced numerous hardships and strived hard to achieve leadership roles.
He said that when a student becomes a member of the College’s Students Union, they take a lot of responsibilities upon their shoulders and hold significant leadership positions which helps them act as bridge between faculty and fellow students, and also learn more about leadership.

The Chief Guest spoke about importance of transferable skills, ability to adapt to uncertain times & challenges, and the power of effective communication. She then underlined the importance of pursuing excellence.
Mahima mentioned that when people discuss anything dealing with quality and precision, the first thing most of them say is that German quality could not be beaten. She explained that Germans had not achieved that level overnight; rather, they had made quality their culture and had invested in doing the same thing tirelessly until it was perfected. She opined this eventually made them excellent.
At the same time, she cautioned that one should not undermine the importance of discipline, concluding that while Indians are intelligent, talented, and hardworking, it is discipline that would ultimately make them great.
