City folks are highly appreciative of the foot patrol initiative that is getting intensified in various parts of Coimbatore city, under the guidance of City Police Commissioner, Kannan IPS.

This much-needed activity was revived across the State of Tamil Nadu after the appointment of Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal IPS as the Director General of TN Police Department. Under his direction, the measure has intensified in the State, and it is in full swing in  Coimbatore.

Areas falling under 20 police stations in the city including Kattoor, Race Course, Saibaba Colony, Rathinapuri, Kavundampalayam, Thudiyalur, Podanur, Ukkadan, Vadavalli are regularly being patrolled by the police. As foot patrolling enhances visible policing, increases women and child-safety and also enables the cops to assess the ground level conditions directly, the move is receiving praises and support from the public.

Social Entrepreneur Kishore Chandran, who has been vocal for Coimbatore’s holisitic development and security welcomed this ongoing initiative.

“Foot Patrolling definitely has numerous advantages. This activity helps the police  in developing a good rapport with public. We have heard that the public usually have a unexplainable fear about Police and how to approach them but now, this measure is changing that, Kishore said.

” Along with this, the Singappen Special Task Force is also doing a remarkable work in Coimbatore. Kudos to DGP of TN Police and our Coimbatore City Police for the wonderful work.”

Prakash, a resident of Saibaba Colony shared that Foot Patrolling is facilitating direct interaction between the police and the public. The trust factor too is increasing a lot because of this measure.
