A 48-year-old man from Gobichettipalayam, who was declared brain dead following a road accident, helped save seven lives through organ donation.
Ravichandran met with a road traffic accident and was admitted to Royal Care Super Speciality Hospital for treatment. Despite intensive care, he did not respond and was declared brain dead on Tuesday (April 28, 2026).
“His family came forward to donate his organs. A team of multi-organ transplant surgeons harvested his liver, kidneys, heart, eye, skin and bone in accordance with the guidelines of the Transplant Authority of Tamil Nadu.
The Transplant Authority of Tamil Nadu allocated the heart, liver and one kidney to Royal Care Super Speciality Hospital, where they were transplanted into patients in need. The other kidney, along with the eyes, skin and bones, was sent to private hospitals in Coimbatore,” a press release from the hospital said.
Dr. K. Madeswaran, Chairman and Managing Director of the hospital, praised the family for their noble gesture, noting that the donation helped save seven lives. He also commended the medical, paramedical and administrative teams for their dedicated and humanitarian service.
