The Rathinam Group of Institutions recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Regional Science Centre, Coimbatore, to promote experiential learning and scientific awareness among students.
The agreement aims to bridge the gap between theoretical classroom learning and practical scientific exploration. In the context of evolving STEM education, the initiative is intended to provide students with greater exposure to real-world scientific applications, innovation practices, and research-based learning.
According to the MoU, the collaboration will facilitate internships, workshops, exhibitions, and outreach programmes, leveraging the Centre’s interactive exhibits, innovation hubs, and science facilities. The partnership also seeks to strengthen academic engagement through joint seminars, training sessions, and demonstrations for students and faculty.
As part of the collaboration, students will have access to the Regional Science Centre’s infrastructure, including science galleries and hands-on learning platforms. Structured engagement programmes, including short-term and long-term internships and research exchange initiatives, are expected to benefit a significant number of students and faculty members annually.

The collaboration will focus on three key areas: the organisation of joint science workshops and exhibitions; student internship and research exchange programmes; and teacher training, along with community outreach initiatives.
These efforts are expected to promote scientific temper, innovation, and science literacy among students and the public.
The Regional Science Centre, which functions under the Tamil Nadu Science and Technology Centre, focuses on popularising science through interactive and non-formal education, while the Rathinam Group of Institutions offers multidisciplinary programmes with an emphasis on industry-integrated and experiential learning.
The MoU is valid for one year and may be renewed based on mutual consent. Officials said the initiative would contribute to enhancing practical learning, strengthening research engagement, and fostering a culture of innovation among students.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Manickam, Chief Executive Officer, Rathinam Group of Institutions; Nagaraj, Chief Business Officer; Mentor Lenin Bharathi; Abiram, Director – Innovation Hub, Regional Science Centre; and principals, deans, and faculty members from both institutions.
