The Department of Dietetics at PSG Hospitals organised the International Conference on Oncology Nutrition 2025, titled “From Bench to Bedside,” on 6 December 2025. The conference aimed to promote evidence-based cancer nutrition and enhance patient care.

The event brought together experts from India and abroad in oncology, nutrition, surgery, and critical care. Around 200 delegates—including doctors, dietitians, students, and researchers—participated, reflecting the growing importance of nutrition in cancer care.

The conference was held with the support of L. Gopalakrishnan, Managing Trustee of PSG & Sons’ Charities, and the leadership of Dr. Bhuvaneswaran, Director of the hospital; Dr. Balaji, Director of PSG Institute of Oncology; Dr. Subba Rao, Principal, PSG IMSR & Hospitals; Dr. Karthikeyan, Medical Director, PSG IMSR & Hospitals; Dr. Rajkumar, Medical Superintendent, PSG Institute of Oncology; and Dr. Varunn, Medical Superintendent of PSG Hospitals. The programme was organised by Dr. Kavitha, Chief Dietitian, and her team.

The event commenced on 5th December 2025 with a pre-conference workshop on “Nutrition Support in Clinical Settings – Feeding the Critically Ill,” held at the Simulation Lab, PSG IMSR. The workshop, featuring hands-on demonstrations and case-based learning, attracted 70 delegates.

The scientific sessions on 6 December featured eminent national and international speakers.

The forenoon sessions included lectures by Dr. Rajkumar and Dr. Shashi Ranjani of PSG Institute of Oncology, and Dr. Shanthi Dhandapani from IMU University, Malaysia. This was followed by talks from Dr. Lekha Sreedharan, Apollo Children’s Hospital and National Vice President, IAPEN India; Dr. Madhu Sairam, GEM Cancer Center; Dr. Jyothi S. Krishnan, Believers Church Hospital; and Dr. Arvind Krishnamoorthy, Cancer Institute (WIA), Adyar. A presentation was also delivered by Dr. Kavitha.

The afternoon sessions included expert lectures by Dr. Balu, Surgical Gastroenterologist, PSG Hospitals; Dr. Himaladev, Apollo Hospitals, Bengaluru; Dr. Sunitha Premalatha, Yashoda Hospitals, Hyderabad; and Febi Dhas, Speech Language Pathologist, PSG Hospitals.

A distinguished international keynote address was delivered by Dr. Vanessa Fuchs-Tarlovsky from the Department of Nutrition Support and Research, Oncology Unit, Hospital General de México, Mexico City.

The conference concluded with a multidisciplinary panel discussion titled “From Bench to Bedside – Translating Evidence into Practice,” moderated by Dr. Balu, with panellists Dr. Kavi Shankar, Dr. Sunitha Premalatha, Dr. Anuja Panicker, Dr. Subhashini, and Dr. Ramamoorthy.

TNMC (Tamil Nadu Medical Council) Credit Hours were awarded to all participants.

PSG Oncology Nutrition 2025 stands as a landmark academic event, successfully translating scientific advances into meaningful clinical practice—truly embodying its theme, “From Bench to Bedside.”
