The Yoga and Meditation Centre of Kongunadu Arts and Science College (Autonomous), and the Indian Science Congress Association, Coimbatore Chapter jointly celebrated International Yoga Day at Sister Nivedita Hall on 20th June 2025.
The event was organised to spread awareness about the importance of yoga in promoting physical and mental well-being.
Rajeswari, Associate Professor of English and Co-ordinator of the Yoga and Meditation Centre of the college, welcomed the gathering, and she briefly spoke about the objectives and significance of observing International Yoga Day.
Nagaraja, Associate Professor and Head, Department of English (UA) of the college, delivered the presidential address. In his address, he emphasised the role of yoga in enhancing concentration, emotional balance, and overall health, especially in the academic environment.
Saravanamooethi, Co-ordinator (SF), Associate Professor and Head, Department of Computer Science of the college, delivered the felicitation address. He congratulated the organisers for the initiative and encouraged the students to practice yoga regularly for sustainable well-being and stress management.
Sridevi Thamaraiselvan from Sri Dhanvandri Hospital, Udumalpet, in her special address, spoke on the topic “Yoga for Positive Health.” She elaborated on how yoga supports physical health, emotional stability, and spiritual growth.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Amuthalakshmi, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics (UA).
