Padmanabhan Sankaranarayanan, an alumnus of PSG College of Technology, will be appointed as the Chairman of Tata Chemicals Limited on 30th May 2025, after Chandrasekaran stepped down from the position.

He currently serves as the Non-Executive Chairman of Tata Consulting Engineers Limited and chairs the board of Rallis India Limited. He is also a director on the boards of Tata Power, Infiniti Retail Limited, and the Associated Building Company Limited.
His Academic
- Padmanabhan completed his early education at Shree Baldevdas Kikani Vidyamandir High School, Coimbatore, from 1968 to 1974.
- He pursued his Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Communication Engineering at PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore, from 1975 to 1980, graduating as a gold medallist.
- He is a distinguished alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB).
- He has completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.
- He is a life member of the Computer Society of India (CSI) and a Senior Member of IEEE.
His Career
- Padmanabhan began his career in 1982 with TCS, where he served for 26 years. His roles included Executive Director of Human Resources, Head of Application Development and Maintenance, Head of Airlines Practice, Country Manager for TCS Switzerland, and Executive Director.
- From February 2008 to June 2014, he was the Executive Director-Operations at Tata Power, overseeing the profitable and sustainable operations of all thermal and hydro generation plants across India, as well as transmission and distribution systems in Mumbai.
- He served as the Group Chief Human Resources Officer and headed the Tata Business Excellence Group (TBExG), driving performance enhancement across Tata companies globally through diagnostics, benchmarking, and sharing of best practices.
