India is known for its manufacturing brilliance. It produces around 14 to 15 million metric tonnes of castings annually. But it faces strong competition from China as it remains number one in global output.
Under the “China Plus One” market strategy, India is emerging as a key destination for the foundry industry. To help Coimbatore – one of India’s vibrant Industry City capture this momentum, and to help the foundries upgrade themselves to be on par with the rest of the global players, the 3rd edition of International Exhibition for Ferrous & Non-Ferrous Foundry Industry, Inter Foundry & Inter DieCast will be held in the city this week.
In connection with this, a press conference was held on Tuesday. Jayakumar Ramdass, Chairman – Inter Foundry & Inter Diecast chaired the press meet. He said that this significant event is being organized by Foundries Development Foundation (FDF) and VA Exhibitions.
It is scheduled to take place from 10th to 12th of September at the iconic CODISSIA Trade Fair Complex, and it will be the largest foundry exhibition beyond major traditional centers, serving as a vital hub for industry staff, training, and knowledge sharing, that is expected to attract more than 10,000 trade visitors.
Ashwani Pande, CEO, VA Exhibitions said that the event features Indian and International participation including China, Italy and Germany. He further shared that the exhibition features 319 exhibitors, including approximately 40 international exhibitors.
As an essential platform for growth, the exhibition will provide attendees firsthand exposure to new technologies, innovations, energy-efficient solutions, and strategies to improve productivity and quality. The knowledge-sharing sessions and the exhibition will address core industry challenges, including technological gaps compared to foreign competitors in terms of automation, memory-guided systems, and overall productivity.
Ezhil, President of by Foundries Development Foundation expressed that Indian foundries are renowned for quality, however we are still behind China in terms of technology adoption. To be competitive in the global market, we need to deploy technologies like A.I. and Automation.
Adding to that, Mr.Ramdass said that Indian Foundries need to know how they can maximize their productivity with its existing equipment and manpower. Globally, the foundry industry is increasingly moving toward higher automation, improved worker training, process optimization, and recycling initiatives to boost output per worker, reduce labor reliance, and match world-class global standards. Even with lesser man power, our competitors are able to achieve more productivity, our goal is to attain this level of output in the future.
