Nehru Arts and Science College (Autonomous), Coimbatore, organised its 27th Fresher’s Day — a welcoming ceremony for undergraduate students of the 2025–2026 academic year on 23rd June 2025 at P. K. Das Memorial Auditorium.

The event was graced by the chief guest, Karthikeyan, Superintendent of Police, Coimbatore; the Guest of Honour, Noor Ferinsha, Quality Control Manager, Avitis Super speciality Hospital, Palakkad, and the Special Guest, Sudhanshu Rai, Wing Commander, Indian Air Force.

Vijaykumar, Principal of the college, welcomed the gathering, and he spoke about the college’s academic legacy and the array of opportunities available for students’ growth.

The event was presided over by Krishna Das, Honorary Trade Commissioner of Mauritius – India, Chairman & Managing Trustee, Nehru Group of Institutions.

In his presidential address, he emphasised the role of education in shaping global citizens and encouraging students to dream big while staying grounded in values.

The Chief Guest of the occasion delivered the Fresher’s Day Address. He highlighted the significance of holistic education and urged the students to develop intellectual curiosity, ethical commitment, and innovative thinking.

He emphasised that students must be dutiful to their parents, who have worked hard to support their education. He said that professors will guide them in improving their quality of life over the next three years.

Karthikeyan stated that time is precious and should be used wisely. He advised students to choose good friends, prefer hostel accommodation, and avoid ragging, which can ruin their future. He also urged parents to monitor their children’s activities and to contact the college administration or the police if needed.

He warned that students must avoid drugs, social media distractions, and dangerous activities like bike racing. Instead, he encouraged them to focus on preparing for competitive exams such as the UPSC and to actively participate in sports for their overall development.

Krishnakumar, CEO & Secretary of Nehru Group of Institutions, delivered the special address. He emphasised the importance of commitment, discipline and a sense of purpose during their academic journey.

Special Guest of the Day stressed the need for academic excellence, active participation in co-curricular activities and maintaining values. He encouraged the students to dream big and work relentlessly towards their goals.

The Felicitation Address was delivered by Nagaraja, Executive Director, Academics & Administration, Nehru Group of Institutions. He applauded the college’s initiatives in skill development and encouraged the new students to make the best use of the institution’s resources.

The Guest of Honour, in her address, emphasised the importance of quality, precision and continuous improvement in both healthcare and education. She encouraged students to be sincere and value-driven professionals in whichever field they choose.

Anirudhan, Designated Registrar (Proposed P. K. Das University), extended his felicitations and shared valuable insights on the transition from school to college life, effectively.
