The Madras Agricultural Students’ Union (MASU), one of India’s oldest agricultural student organizations established in 1911, celebrated its 115th MASU Day and General Body Meeting – 2026 on Tuesday, at the Anna Auditorium, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), Coimbatore.

MASU, with more than 850 lifetime members and 4,500 student members, has been fostering excellence, innovation and leadership in agriculture for over a century.

The event was presided over by Subrahmaniyan, Acting Vice-Chancellor of TNAU and Chief Patron of MASU.  Senthil, President of MASU and Director (CPMB&B), welcomed the gathering and highlighted the Union’s longstanding contribution to the agricultural fraternity.

Presenting the annual report,  Boomiraj, Secretary, MASU, said the MASU Awards–2026 recognized outstanding achievers in agricultural research, extension, agribusiness and entrepreneurship, young achievers, agri-tech innovation, innovation excellence, and the newly introduced National Excellence Award.Magicm scaledMore than 150 students from TNAU’s constituent colleges and campuses were honoured for their achievements in academic, literary, cultural and technical competitions. C. Babu, Dean (Agriculture) and Dean (SPGS), delivered the felicitation address, whileR. Selvarajan, Director, ICAR–NRCB, Tiruchirappalli, and T. Rabi Kumar, IFS, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Director, IFGTB, Coimbatore, congratulated MASU for its contributions to agricultural education, research, innovation and alumni engagement.

The prestigious MASU Awards–2026 were presented to eminent scientists, researchers, innovators and agricultural leaders for their outstanding contributions to Indian agriculture. The General Body Meeting reviewed the Union’s annual activities and discussed future initiatives, including membership expansion, stronger alumni engagement, enhancing the reach of the Madras Agricultural Journal, and launching new programs to further MASU’s mission. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by M. Karthikeyan, Vice President, MASU.
