The Department of Visual Communication, VLB Janakiammal College of Arts and Science (Autonomous), organised an interaction programme titled “Meet the Minds Behind Stephen” on 31 December 2025, to provide students meaningful exposure to the film industry and its working culture.
Kalaivani, Principal, encouraged students to make the best use of such opportunities and emphasised the role of practical learning in shaping successful media professionals.
Brindha, Director – Academic and Research, highlighted the growing scope of cinema and media studies in today’s digital era.
Mithun, Director, Editor & Writer and Harija, Actress, were the chief guests. In their addresses, they shared their personal journeys in the film industry, challenges faced during filmmaking, and valuable insights into storytelling and performance.
The programme further featured felicitation addresses by Gokul Krishna, Director of Photography; Kartyk, Editor & Colourist; Amalnath, Associate Director; and Jeeva Adarsh, Sound Designer.
They spoke about their respective roles in cinema, teamwork in film production, and the importance of technical excellence.
The interaction session was lively, with students actively participating and raising questions, making the event both informative and inspiring.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Evangelin, Assistant Professor.
The event proved to be a memorable and enriching experience for the students.
