As part of Pink Unity 2026, 125 students of VLB Janakiammal College of Arts and Science participated in a human chain and pamphlet distribution campaign to create awareness about breast cancer at the Corporation Office, Kuniyamuthur, on Thursday.
The campaign was organised by the Centre for Social Immersion and Community Engagement, under the umbrella of V-Serve; the Centre for Women Empowerment, under the umbrella of V-Wellness; and the School of Computer Science of the college.
The students formed a human chain and distributed awareness pamphlets to members of the public, highlighting the importance of early detection, regular screening and timely medical consultation.
Kumar, Principal of the college, addressed the students and emphasised the importance of creating sustained awareness about breast cancer. He encouraged preventive healthcare and urged students to become responsible ambassadors of health awareness in society.
Dhanalakshmi Ranganathan, South Zone Chairman, Corporation Office, Kuniyamuthur, appreciated the students for their active participation in the awareness initiative and for taking the message of breast cancer prevention to the community.
The programme aimed to promote greater public awareness and encourage women to prioritise preventive healthcare and regular screening.
