Vivekananda Institute of Management Studies (VIMS) recently celebrated its Excellence Awards – 2025, a prestigious ceremony that recognised and honoured outstanding achievements in academics, placements, human resources, startups, and entrepreneurship across Tamil Nadu.
The event witnessed the presence of esteemed guests, industry leaders, and award recipients. Durai, Associate Professor at the institute, welcomed the gathering, followed by the Presidential Address delivered by Valarmathi, Director of VIMS.
She congratulated all the awardees and remarked that the event would remain a memorable occasion for all the winners. “These awards are meant to motivate the recipients and encourage them to contribute meaningfully to society,” she added.
Meenakshi Sundaram, Head of HR at Lakshmi Ring Travellers Pvt. Ltd., delivered the Guest Address. He highlighted that such events help bridge the gap between educational institutions and industry, allowing identification of key improvement areas and promoting more effective education.
Srinivasan Mahalingam, Director-HR at Velan Valves, also delivered a Guest Speech. He noted that many students are not prepared to face current challenges and emphasised the shared responsibility of institutions and industries to nurture them. He advocated for the use of psychometric testing to assess students’ skills and abilities.
Balaji from Ropose Mattress Pvt. Ltd. congratulated the awardees and stressed the significance of recognising and rewarding excellence. He described the VIMS Excellence Awards as a platform to celebrate the accomplishments of exceptional individuals.
Suganya Selvaraj, Project Lead – Investments at Startup TN, addressed the audience on various schemes, provisions, and the incubation process facilitated by the Startup TN Department.
Over 100 awards were presented across several categories, including Best Faculty, Best Entrepreneur, Best TPO, Best Startup, and Best HR, with recipients from all over Tamil Nadu.
The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Umamaheshwari, Professor of the college.
