Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) has shown a steady upward trend in the QS World University Rankings by Subject (Agriculture & Forestry), improving from the 401–420 band in 2023 to the 201–250 band in 2026.

The QS World University Rankings are compiled by Quacquarelli Symonds, a higher education analytics firm based in the United Kingdom. The subject-wise rankings for Agriculture and Forestry have been published since 2011.

In the 2026 rankings, a total of 6,273 institutions were analysed, with 1,908 ranked across 55 academic disciplines.

The university attributed this performance to its focus on teaching, research, outreach, agribusiness and open and distance learning (ODL) activities at regional, national and international levels.

TNAU scientists have developed 948 crop varieties and hybrids, 171 farm machineries and implements, and more than 1,500 management technologies to support farmers and other stakeholders.

The Vice-Chancellor appreciated the efforts of faculty, staff and students, and encouraged them to aim for higher positions in the coming years.
