In a significant step towards women’s empowerment and sustainable livelihoods, more than 10 electric autos were sponsored under the title ‘Singapennee’ on 25th July 2025, through the sponsorship of the Rotary Club of Coimbatore Spectrum and the CSR partnership of Baker Hughes, for deserving women from underprivileged backgrounds.
The distribution held at Vakaman FE, Ground.
The Chief Guest, Vanitha Mohan, Chairman of Pricol and Managing Trustee of Siruthuli, handed over the keys of the autos to the beneficiaries. She lauded the project’s impact on green mobility and gender inclusion.
The initiative reinforces the club’s mission to promote dignity through livelihood support.

The event was graced by Rtn. PP Lakshmanan, District Vocational Service Director; Rtn. Tirumuragan, Assistant Governor; and Rtn. Vigneesh, GGR.
From Baker Hughes, Muruganantham, General Manager and Jayagaresh, Senior Engineering and Technology Manager, graced the event.
The event was led by Rtn. Ashokan, Club President; Rtn. Shafiq Ahmed, Secretary; and Rtn. Sampathkumar Velusamy, Project Chairman.

“Through this project, we are not just handing over vehicles, we are handing over opportunity, courage, and independence,” remarked Rtn. Sampathkumar.
The cost of each vehicle is ₹4,50,000. Of this amount, ₹2,50,000 has been sponsored by the Rotary Club of Coimbatore Spectrum and Baker Hughes, while a government subsidy of ₹1,00,000 has also been provided. The remaining ₹1,00,000 has been arranged as a loan by the club for the beneficiaries, which will be repaid by them over 24 months.
