The Rotary Club of Coimbatore Phoenix, Sankara Eye Hospital, and Arasur Panchayat jointly organized a Free Eye Camp recently.
This camp benefitted 91 underprivileged individuals with free eye check-ups and treatments. Twenty individuals were selected for free cataract surgery, addressing a critical need in combating cataract blindness.
The camp’s impact was amplified by concurrent community outreach and awareness programs, educating participants about eye health and promoting early detection of eye problems. Similar initiatives have yielded remarkable results in clearing cataract blindness backlogs and identifying refractive errors.
Rtn. Murugan, President of the club emphasized that the joint eye camp demonstrates our commitment to serving the community.” Kumar, Camp Coordinator, Sankara Eye Hospital, expressed pride in partnering with the Rotary Club and Arasur Panchayat.
Such collaborative efforts can significantly address eye care needs, especially in rural areas. Leveraging technology and community engagement can enhance the sustainability and effectiveness of these initiatives says the organisers.
