Rathinam College of Arts and Science, recently conducted a one-week online Faculty Development Program (FDP) on
“Entrepreneurial Strategies for Success in the Emerging Blue Economy,” sponsored by the AICTE Training and Learning (ATAL) Academy.

The FDP aimed to equip educators and professionals with entrepreneurial insights into the Blue Economy, focusing on sustainability, innovation, and economic opportunities in sectors such as marine biotechnology, aquaculture, ocean energy, and coastal tourism.

The inaugural session featured Dharmesh Raval, Director of the School of Maritime Management, Gujarat Maritime University, as the Chief Guest.

Sabareesh, Dean of Research and Development of the college delivered the presidential address, and he emphasized the importance of integrating sustainability with entrepreneurship in maritime industries.

The event was held under the guidance and leadership of Madan A. Sendhil, Chairman; Shima Sendhil, Director; Manickam, CEO & Secretary and Balasubramanian, Principal.

A total of 13 expert-led sessions were conducted, covering key topics such as strategic approaches for sustainable Blue Economy development, the impact of climate change on marine industries, biotechnological applications of marine microbes, startup acceleration and incubation support, and integrating maritime and surface transport for economic growth.

At the end of the FDP, an online test was conducted to assess participants’ understanding of the topics covered. Certificates were awarded to participants who met the eligibility criteria, including minimum attendance requirements and a qualifying score on the test.

The valedictory Session presided over by Suresh, Vice Principal of the college, he highlighted the significant impact of the FDP on academic and industry collaborations.

The event saw participation from more than 250 academicians, researchers, and industry professionals representing over 100 institutions across 19 states and 2 Union Territories nationwide.

FDP Coordinators, Kousalya Devi and Jothilingam, expressed their gratitude to AICTE-ATAL, the resource persons, and the participants for making the event a grand success. The initiative marks a major step towards advancing research, entrepreneurship, and policy development in the Blue Economy sector.
