Rathinam College of Arts and Science, under the sponsorship of the Indian Council of Philosophical Research (ICPR), New Delhi, organised an Indian Philosopher Day lecture series titled “The Wisdom of India: Exploring Core Values Through Philosophy & Culture” recently at the Rathinam Auditorium.

The School of Commerce hosted the event as part of the ICPR-funded Indian Philosopher Day Lecture Series.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Hemalatha, Head of the Department of Commerce.

The lecture series comprised four enlightening sessions:

In the first session, Nagarajan, former head of the Department of Economics at PSG College of Arts and Science, delivered a talk on Dharma, Ahimsa, and Culture through the lens of the Vedas, addressing the present-day challenges faced by students.

In the second session, Athena, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, PSGR Krishnammal College for Women, emphasised the practical significance of value in daily life.

The third session featured Kumaresan, Director and Professor, School of Commerce, KSR College of Arts and Science. He illustrated leadership and moral values through stories from the Ramayana, encouraging students to cultivate noble qualities.

The fourth session was led by Sharmila Banu, Regional Manager (North), Hycon Machines, Coimbatore, who elaborated on national integration and how fostering unity among students can contribute to social harmony.

She also spoke on India’s inclusive spiritual heritage as the foundation of all religions.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Arutgeevitha, Head, Department of Commerce.
