The Centre for Innovation, Incubation & Entrepreneurship (CII&E) of PSG College of Arts & Science (PSGCAS), announced the national-level achievement of its student innovators in the MSME Idea Hackathon 4.0.

The MSME Idea Hackathon 4.0 is organised by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India.

Out of 29,237 ideas submitted nationwide through MSME Host Institutions, 400 ideas were selected for grant funding of up to ₹15 Lakhs each.

Among these, two student teams from the college secured grants worth ₹13.50 Lakhs and ₹12.75 Lakhs, respectively, marking a major milestone in the institution’s innovation journey.

The teams were trained and mentored by CII&E, PSGCAS, with continuous pre-incubation support, lab access, and prototype development guidance.

The mentoring team included Vijayakumar, Manager, CII&E; Uthira, Head, Dept. of Nutrition & Dietetics; Krishnaveni, Head, Dept. of Microbiology & EDC Coordinator; and Priyadharshini, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Zoology (Aided).

This achievement was officially declared on World MSME Day – 27th June 2025, following two rigorous selection phases: online pitching and proposal evaluation by MSME.

With these new grants, the college has now secured over ₹70 Lakhs in Innovation & Entrepreneurship grants in the past two years.

This reaffirms the college’s growing leadership as a Higher Education Institution contributing meaningfully to the national vision of innovation, sustainability, and entrepreneurship.

    • Members: Sanjai, B.Sc. Zoology – Aided, Bala Vignesh, M.A. English – SF, Arun, BBA Retail Management.
    • Grant Amount: ₹50 Lakhs
    • Host Institute: Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan College of Engineering
    • Project Summary: A sustainable, automated feeding solution for fisheries and poultry that has already received initial support under the NIDHI-PRAYAS scheme through VEL Tech TBI in January 2025.
  1. Team Tomato Rind
    • Team Lead: Sabareesh, B.Sc. Nutrition & Dietetics – Aided
    • Grant Amount: ₹75 Lakhs
    • Host Institute: Anna University, Coimbatore
    • Project Summary: An SDG-based bio-coating solution to extend the shelf life of fruits and vegetables by delaying spoilage caused by atmospheric respiration.
