As part of its Platinum Jubilee celebrations, PSG College of Technology’s Department of Civil Engineering inaugurated the two-day International Conference on ‘Recent Advances in Construction Materials and Structures’ (RCMS 2026) on Friday by releasing the conference proceedings at the college campus.
The conference aims to bring together leading academicians, researchers, industry experts, consultants, and students from India and abroad to discuss emerging trends, innovative technologies, and sustainable solutions in construction materials, structural engineering, and infrastructure development.

Nimesh Patel, Chairman and Managing Director of Maruti Infrastructure Limited, Ahmedabad, graced the occasion as the chief guest. He delivered the inaugural address and formally declared the conference open.

Mohamed ElGawady of the Missouri University of Science and Technology, USA, and Hassan Al Nageim of Liverpool John Moores University, UK, attended the event as guests of honour.
Thyla, Principal (FAC) of the college, presided over the function. Earlier, Sivakumar, Head (i/c) of the Department of Civil Engineering, welcomed the gathering, while Praveen Kumar, Organising Secretary of RCMS 2026, proposed the vote of thanks.
Following the inaugural, the dignitaries inaugurated an exhibition featuring 10 industrial stalls, showcasing innovative products, technologies, testing equipment, software solutions, and engineering services relevant to the construction and infrastructure sectors.

The conference seeks to promote knowledge exchange, foster collaborative research, and strengthen industry-academia partnerships.
RCMS 2026 features eight international keynote speakers and eleven national keynote speakers who are delivering lectures on contemporary developments in sustainable construction, advanced materials, structural resilience, infrastructure systems, and emerging engineering technologies.
A pre-conference workshop was conducted by six eminent experts, providing participants with valuable insights into advanced research methodologies and industrial practices.
The conference has attracted 120 participants, including 60 external delegates from academia and industry and 60 internal participants from the institution. The technical programme comprises 12 technical sessions coordinated by 17 external experts and six internal faculty members serving as session chairs and co-chairs.
These sessions showcase high-quality research contributions addressing current challenges and future opportunities in civil engineering.
To recognise outstanding research contributions, three Best Paper Awards will be presented to researchers demonstrating excellence, originality, and innovation in their work.
