The Department of Nursing Services at PSG Hospitals celebrated International Nurses Day 2025 under the theme “Our Nurses. Our Future. Caring for nurses strengthens economies” on 12th May 2025.
The celebration began with a welcome address by Shangeetha, Deputy Nursing Superintendent. The official unveiling of this year’s Nurses Day theme was done by Anuratha, Nursing Superintendent.
The event was graced by esteemed dignitaries including Dr. Bhuwaneswaran, Director, PSG Super Specialty Hospitals; Dr. Balaji, Director, PSG Institute of Oncology; Dr. Subbarao, Principal, PSG IMSR; Jaganathan, General Manager, PSG Hospitals; Dr. Karthikeyan, Medical Superintendent; Dr. Karthikeyan, Medical Superintendent, Clinical Services; and Dr. Rajkumar, Medical Superintendent, PSG Institute of Oncology.
At the celebration, awards were presented to honour excellence in nursing service. Fifteen nurses received the Best Nurse Award, while two nursing assistants were honoured with the Best Nursing Assistant Award. The Best Supervisor Award and Best Maintained Ward Award were also announced.
As part of International Nurses Day, a month-long series of events was held from 7th April to 6th May 2025.
The events featured various competitions, including Tamil Poem and Elocution contests. An Essay Writing competition was held on the theme: “Our Nurses. Our Future. Caring for nurses strengthens economies.” A Stand-Up Comedy event also added a light-hearted touch to the lineup.
Other highlights included a Fancy Dress competition, a Rangoli competition, a “Food Without Flame” cooking competition, a Solo Singing contest, and a debate on the topic: “குடும்பத்தையும் பொருளாதாரத்தையும் சிறப்பாக கையாள்வது 20 ஆம் நூற்றாண்டில் பிறந்தவர்களா? 21 ஆம் நூற்றாண்டில் பிறந்தவர்களா?” The debate was moderated by Janakiram, Manager, Marketing, PSG Hospitals.
Additional events included Drama competitions, Poster presentations, Dumb Charades, a Quiz competition, a Group Dance contest, a “Unity in Diversity” competition, and a special FM Talk segment broadcast on PSG Community Radio – 107.8 FM. Another FM Talk on nursing, delivered by Anuratha, Nursing Superintendent, was aired on Hello FM.
Today’s event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Jeyamoni, Assistant Nursing Superintendent. And followed by a cultural programme.
