The Under-14 chess team of a private school in Alapakkam, Chennai, won the silver medal at the 69th National School Games Federation of India (SGFI) Chess Championship held at Ranchi, Jharkhand, from January 13 to 16.

The championship witnessed participation from 31 teams, representing 20 states, four Union Territories, and nine school boards. The school team had earlier qualified by securing first place at a national-level tournament held in Udaipur, Rajasthan, representing the CBSE Board.

The team, comprising Kavin, Kishore Prajith (Coimbatore district), Nijesh, Parithi Narayan, and Advaith, secured second place in the Under-14 category, bringing laurels to the school and to Tamil Nadu.

The school management, teachers, and parents congratulated the students on their achievement.
