Gullas College of Medicine in the Philippines held its graduation ceremony on Friday at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu City.
A total of 1,006 medical graduates received their degrees, including more than 700 Indian students.
The graduating batch included students from several countries, including Nepal, Nigeria and Sri Lanka.
Gov. Edwin Jubahib, Governor of Davao del Norte, attended the ceremony as the chief guest and congratulated the graduating students. He wished the graduates success as they begin their careers in medicine.
Addressing the graduates, Dr. David K. Pillai, Chairman of Kings International Medical Academy, urged them to view medicine as a responsibility towards society. He encouraged them to maintain professional standards, pursue lifelong learning and provide care to patients.
Kathreena Pillai, Deputy Chief Executive Consultant of Gullas College of Medicine, and Dr. Karthik Raj Manoharan, an Indian medical professional and Programme Director, Liver Transplant Anesthesia & Critical Care, M.I.O.T. International Hospitals, Chennai, also attended the ceremony and extended their greetings to the graduates.
The graduation of more than 700 Indian students in a single batch reflects the presence of Indian students in medical education in the Philippines.
