Andrew McCarthy captured this photo on November 8, 2025, in Wilcox, Arizona, United States, in a desert region, while his friend Gabriel Brown was skydiving.

  • Exit Time: 9:09.05.82 AM
  • Angle of the Sun at Exit: 25.74°
  • Exit Altitude: 3,503.937 feet AGL
  • Ground Distance Traveled: 7,267 feet
  • Telescope Distance (true 3D distance): 8,068 feet (1.52807 miles)

When we met, I asked McCarthy to take a shot with the sun in the background. We weren’t sure if we could pull it off, but we decided to give it a try. We carefully set the right sun angle, exit altitude, aircraft, location, and time, and then it all came together,” said Gabriel Brown in a post on his Instagram.

“We had to align everything perfectly and wait for the right moment. After six attempts, we finally did it.”
