The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Dr. NGP Institute of Technology (NGP iTech), Coimbatore, recently organised a Two-Day National Conference on “Ghost Manufacturing and Digital Supply Chain: Catalyzing Smart Industrial Transformation for Viksit Bharat 2047” under the AICTE–VAANI scheme.
The event featured an eminent panel of speakers from academia, industry, and government.
Santhakumar Mohan, Professor and Dean, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Palakkad, delivered the Chief Guest Address, emphasising the role of ghost manufacturing, cyber-physical systems, and digitally integrated supply chains in realising the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
Technical sessions were delivered by Karthickeyan, Associate Professor of the college; Sreejith Mohan, Assistant Professor, National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli; Chakradhar Dupadu, Associate Professor, IIT, Palakkad; and Periyasamy, Associate Professor, Government College of Technology, Coimbatore, who shared insights on smart manufacturing, digital twins, advanced materials, and sustainable production systems.
Industry perspectives were presented by Shreenivas, Technical Advisor, Sterling Powergensys, Mumbai, and Santhoshkumar, Deputy Manager – Business Development and Talent Acquisition, MACBRO Technology, Erode, focusing on real-time industrial challenges, power and energy solutions, and future workforce requirements.
Government initiatives and policy support for industrial growth were highlighted by Kayalvizhi, Assistant Manager, IEDS, Ministry of MSME, Government of India, Coimbatore, who outlined MSME schemes, innovation funding opportunities, and entrepreneurship development programs.
The conference was presided over by Prabha, Principal of the college, who underscored the institution’s commitment to research excellence, innovation, and national development through technology-driven education.
The conference brought together over 100 participants from various industries, premier academic institutions, research organisations, and government departments across the nation.
Faculty members, researchers, industry professionals, MSME representatives, startup entrepreneurs, and students from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Maharashtra, and other states participated.
The conference concluded with active interactions, networking, and deliberations, reinforcing the importance of smart manufacturing and digital supply chains in strengthening India’s industrial ecosystem and contributing towards the national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
